Tyre Price Advisor - Latest Shopping Basket Research
The latest shopping basket research carried out by Tyre Price Advisor, the UKs leading tyre price and service comparison website, has revealed the wide variations in prices offered by online retailers, underlining the value of utilising a comparison engine to identify the best deals.
The latest price check, carried out on Tuesday June 7, 2011, covered four of the fastest moving tyre sizes – 205/55 R 16, 225/45 R 17, 195/65 R 15 and 225/40 R 18. Five randomly chosen car tyre models were chosen for each tyre size – the cheapest budget tyre, a mid-range tyre (typically Avon, Falken, Kumho, Toyo etc.) and three popular premium tyre models (chosen from Bridgestone, Continental, Dunlop, Goodyear, Michelin and Pirelli).
Online tyre prices for these tyres were then compared using prices from fourteen of the most prominent online tyre retailers, namely;
ATS Euromaster, Best Buy Tyres, Blackcircles, C Tyres, Etyres, Event Tyres, Formula One Autocentres, Halfords Autocentres, Kwik-Fit, Mytyres, National Tyres, Tyre-Shopper, Tyretraders and Value Tyres.
Based on the individual retailers’ published online price, the survey revealed that, on this occasion, Tyretraders were cheapest on 5 of the 20 tyres, Formula One on 4 and Tyre-Shopper on 4, Blackcircles and CTyres on 2 and ATS, Mytyres and Value Tyres on one each.This distribution of the cheapest prices varies significantly with the last shopping basket price check carried out by Tyre Price Advisor, highlighting how the price positioning of various retailers on different brands and sizes fluctuates on a rapid and ongoing basis.
When the discounts offered by Tyre Price Advisor partners was added the results looked a little different, Value Tyres being cheapest on a massive 12 sizes, Formula One on 3, Tyretraders on 2 each and ATS, Blackcircles and Tyre-Shopper on one each. This means that Tyre Price Advisor partners offered the best price on 16 out of the 20 tyres.
David Wilson, the publisher of www.tyrepriceadvisor.co.uk, commented: “The retail tyre prices offered by online retailers are constantly changing, so it’s always worth checking out and comparing the very latest prices before making a purchase. What our latest “shopping basket” survey confirms is that online prices in the tyre market vary widely, but that the majority of those who are offering the keenest prices are already partnering Tyre Price Advisor".
